Slaughterhouse MMA, a relatively new gym in the Atlanta area, has been producing quite a few fighters for local shows. But will send their first fighter to a PPV show on August 13 in Mississippi.
Their fighter, Brad Johnson, took time out to speak with GeorgiaFighters.com about his first PPV fight!

Slaughter House made its grand opening July 1st of 2011 but the group of guys have been training with each other privately for years. - Tell us about your fight coming up. Where is it, when and against who?
My next fight is August 13th in Biloxi Mississippi on PPV. I will be fighting Keenan Murphy out of Mississippi. - Who are the instructors at Slaughterhouse and what is their experience?
Matt Namer-6 years of experience, strength and conditioning and kickboxing for 3. Sam Wells- Mma, submission grappling, catch weight , kickboxing,WEC veteran, freestyle combat challenge lightweight champ, 16 years of experience. Michael Namer 3 years strength and conditioning. Todd Price sports specific, personal training, strength conditioning, mma 10 years. Brad Johnson mma, grappling, boxing, tae kwon do, 8 years of experience. - What are the pros and cons of having a smaller gym?
Smaller gym is more personalized, workouts are better because your able to focus on each person individually, so the attention is even all the way around. Drawbacks are limited space and not a lot of equipment. - How has MMA training and fighting helped in your job at Wild Bill’s as a security guard?
As security at wild bills we are not allowed to do certain things as far as holds and chokes go. Mma teaches you hold and chokes that are perfectly safe if not applied fully. This allows me to defuse a situation without anyone getting hurt. Plus the discipline ive learned over the years has made me a better person, so I try and let my brain defuse the situation first. - Tell us about your training for your upcoming fight. How do you split up cardio, fight training, etc? How does the hammering of tires and other things play into your training?
Training is the hard part. I split my days up for this fight Monday, Wed and Friday with boxing and MMa training twice a day. Tues and Thursday are my cardio days. Hammering of the tires and Keg lifts are core functional. Core helps with every aspect of life. Core training also helps prevent injury and with the increase core training you burn twice the amount of calories.
