The monthly Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission meeting was held today at 11 am downtown next to the Georgia Capitol Building. The notes from the meeting are below.
*Approval of the July 14 meeting.
*Approval of the July 30 meeting.
*Approval of Southeast Fighting Championship’s Saturday, Sept 25 MMA match permit in Moultrie, GA.
*Approval of Jackie Harper’s XFA MMA promoter’s license and match permit for Friday, Sept 17 in Douglas, GA. Jackie is Scott Harper’s father and Scott will be the matchmaker for the event.
*Approval of Full Throttle Entertainment MMA match permits for Saturday, Sept 11 and Sunday, Sept 12 at Wild Bill’s in Duluth, GA.
*Approval of Gladiator X’s Boxing match permits for Saturday, Oct 2 and Saturday, Dec 11 at the Holiday Inn in downtown Atlanta.
*Approval of Bullet Fight Gear’s MMA promoter’s license and match permit for Saturday, Oct 9 at Cowboys.
*International Championship Boxing applied for a Boxing promoter’s license and match permit. The fax was received by Andy Foster last night at 8:13 pm. These are usually required the Friday before a meeting. Andy received the first page of the fax, but not the second page. Waymon Harley said the event is scheduled for Friday, Oct 29. JJ Biello (GAEC chairman) suggested the promoter get everything in order and reapply at the next GAEC meeting. Approval of license and event was denied.
*Appearance of Chris Asher before the GAEC commission. Asher did not attend the meeting. Andy Foster spoke to Asher several times on the phone regarding selling sponsorships for events at Wild Bill’s that he’s not a part of, promoting fights at Wild Bill’s and other venues in Alpharetta that he’s not a part of and possibly collecting money for other events that never take place. There was no action taken on Asher since he did not attend the meeting.
*Application for a Boxing License by William McDonald. Andy says that William’s age (46) and record (4-30) are an issue to license him. William said that his record is better than 4-30, just he can’t prove it. No action was taken today to license William or deny him. The GAEC requested that he get a letter from a trainer stating his skill level, take the advanced medicals and prove his full record.
*Request from Adrian Patrick (Gladiator X) for permission to put a boxing match together between Gabe Brown and Anthony Moore. Gabe is 38 years old and has a record of 0-8-2 in his last 10 fights. Anthony is 40 years old and 1-9 in his last 10 fights. Adrian Patrick said the fight should be competitive based on records and age. The GAEC voted to approve the bout as long as its 6 rounds or less, both pass the advanced medicals and a trainer signs off that both fighters are fit and trained to fight.
*In Andy Foster’s Executive Director’s report he told the GAEC about a Corporate Fight Night being promoted by Xavier Biggs and Terri Moss. He feels the event is nothing more than a toughman contest which is illegal in Georgia. Several commission members agreed. The event is being sanctioned by USA Boxing, but the sanctioning does not exceed the fact that the event is illegal due to the GAEC rules. Andy Foster cited 43-4B-1. Don Geary, a GAEC member, made a motion that the promoters are notified that it violated Georgia Law and cease and desist immediately the event or change it so it meets regulation. The website is www.AtlantaCorporateFightNight.com and the date of the event is Thursday, Oct 21.
*In Andy Foster’s Executive Director’s report he spoke about a recent all amateur show at the Masquerade promoted by Alex Beadle. Andy said upon arriving at the event the paperwork was not filled out completely and he had a discussion with the doctor. The doctor turned about to be just a chiropractor which is not allowed due to GAEC rules. Luckily for the promotion and the fights, Andy Foster was able to get Dr. Blake to come work the event which delayed it quite a bit. Andy said talking to the chiropractor, he has worked at least 4 ISKA events in Georgia, if not more. The GAEC voted to have a letter sent to the ISKA letting them know this is not acceptable and have GAEC member Ben Kiker call the ISKA to discuss the situation and its importance.
*The GAEC signed a resolution of appreciation for Andy Foster’s intern Sam Pittard. He worked with the GAEC as an intern from May 2010 until August 2010.

Kyle,
As the event hasn’t taken place, no crime has been committed. Note that the GAEC is giving them a chance to alter the event so that it becomes legal/regulated in GA.
“cease and desist immediately the event or CHANGE IT SO IT MEETS REGULATION.”
Good question though. If they continue as is, what happens?
Calm down man…not saying they shouldn’t be punished. I’m simply saying the GAEC has stated they can rectify the situation by bringing it within the sanctioning bodies jurisdiction. If they don’t comply, they should certainly be punished.
Don’t you understand that it is high time to receive the personal loans, which can make your dreams come true.
