Braekhus Woods Boxing

On March 5th Nicole “Notorious” Woods will step into the ring as a heavy favorite against a debuting fighter at Atlanta’s Fight Night at Center Stage. Georgiafighters sat down and spoke to Woods about the fight and where she stands in her career.

First fill us in on the name “Notorious”…where did it come from?m_f8f43b05a77a586e91fb4f08aeb13b23
“Notorious means widely known, especially for something bad and I am known for busting people up in the ring.”

The last time you were scheduled to fight you’re opponent pulled out in the last minute. What happened, and how frustrating was that for you?
“For anyone that knows boxing, that kind of thing happens all the time. So I try not to let it fluster me I just get focused on the next one.”

On March 5th you’re scheduled to fight Tara McCulough, what do you know about her?
“I really don’t know anything about her but you know sometimes you don’t get that opportunity to check out your opponent so you just have to be ready for anything.”

Have you changed anything about your training regime for this fight in particular?
“Not really training is pretty consistent. I train everyday like my career depends on it.”

Where do you train?
“I am currently training at Atlanta Art of Boxing.”

ssssswoodsnicolenamus112008In your eyes, how do you think this fight will turn out?
“I think this fight will end in a first or second round knockout. My skills are far to superior.”

You were born in Brooklyn but now call East Point home. How long have you lived in the south and do you like fighting locally?
“I have actually been living in Georgia since 2002. I love fighting locally but I dont get the chance to do that often so I am very happy that I been given this opportunity.”

Women’s boxing for the most part plays second fiddle to other combat sports. Why do you think it’s not as popular?
“I think that women’s boxing just needs a chance to shine. We need a female fighter that stands alone from the rest and I am trying to be that fighter.”

Do you think there is any fighter in Atlanta than can compete with you?
“No I don’t think that there is any fighter in Atlanta that can compete with me.”

For those people wondering if they should come out to see you fight, how would you convince them to come out? woods_lindsey_0172
“Excitement, Skill and Heart. I am the best female fighter in Georgia and the future of womens boxing.”

Did you bother to ask Nicole WHY a girl with 16 fights is fighting a pro debuter? How can she say she wants to be the one that stands apart from all the others. This fight is a farce and would NEVER be allowed in any state with a real Athletic Commission.

Did you bother to look as Woods record. She has yet to win a big fight. She has already lost to a debut fighter. Her last fight was a draw that most thought she lost. She is probably trying to get her feet under her. The girl she is fighting is from my home town and is a tough girl. Maybe not as skilled as nicole but it will be an entertaining fight. Nicole has only 1 knockout. This is a competitive fight and will be very entertaining. It is ironic though that you are Butch Gottlieb the commissioner for the wbf and you have made it your goal to have womens boxing more fair and competitive, but let me say this. The fact that you are representing a sanctioning body and are also the editor of Boxing in Las Vegas (a boxing website) seems to me like a conflict of interest. Thinking about it you could easily self promote the fighters you like, help the promoters who pay you the most, and the managers that you work with. You may want to check out the Ali act and see if this is an issue. It seems to me like you are devaluing a fighter in Tara McCulough (go Tara!!) who this could be a big opportunity for to move up some of the people and big dogs that fill your pocket book.
