WILD BILL’S FIGHT NIGHT #43
FRIDAY, JAN 27
TWO OF THE SOUTHEAST’S BEST STRIKERS FINALLY MEET
DYMOND JONES FIGHTS MUAY THAI AND MOE TRAVIS MAKES MMA DEBUT
CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS AT TICKETMASTER

Joe Elmore and Ronnie Rogers have seen each other fight. They’ve fought the same opponents. They’ve warmed up in the same locker room before fights. And they’ve been known for knocking out their competition and earning fight of the night honors several times over.

Now, finally, on Friday, Jan 27 at Wild Bill’s Fight Night, they will fight each other. It’s a fight that many are titling a 2012 Fight of the Year candidate due to the standup style that both fighters possess. While every fighter claims in pre-fight interviews “I wanna stand and bang with my opponent,” not many end up doing such. Elmore and Rogers are two unique fighters that do.

Also on the card is MMA fighter Dymond Jones making a transition to fight muay thai to take on Alabama’s difficult Adrian Miles. And in a reversal, Knuckle Up Fitness’ undefeated muay thai fighter Moe Travis, will be switching from muay thai for her first MMA fight against the more experienced Ivey Turner.

There are currently 4 pro fights and 5 amateur fights on the card.

Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets or by clicking HERE. For more info on VIP seats call the Fight Hotline at 678-TKO-0115.

UFC Returns to Atlanta!!

UFC Returns to Atlanta!!

UFC returns to Atlanta on April 21 for UFC 146

by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jan 10, 2012 at 10:25 pm ET

For the first time since 2008, the Ultimate Fighting Championship is headed to the Peach State.

It was announced on Tuesday’s new edition of FUEL TV’s “UFC Live” that Atlanta will play host to UFC 146, which takes place April 21.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed with sources close to the event that the city’s Philips Arena will host the card.

No bouts for the card were revealed, but the main card is expected to air on pay-per-view.

The UFC most recently visited Atlanta in September 2008 for “UFC: Breakthrough,” where Rashad Evans scores a second-round knockout of UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell.

UFC 146 marks the fourth-ever UFC event held in Georgia. The state played an important in the promotion’s early development, hosting UFC 13 in 1997 and UFC 11 in 1996. Both of those events were held in Augusta.

Burke Wins at CFA!

Burke Wins at CFA!

Photos By: Cage Junkies

Making his way back to the CFA in Miami FL, Jerrid “The Gentleman” Burke rebounded from his one and only loss in July  with a tough split decision victory over Alan Arzeno.

The first round was close as both fighters did well after the first few minutes.  Although the round could have been scored for either fighter it was Burke who swung two of the judges in his favor with a late round take down.

The second round was clearly scored on all three scorecards for Arzeno as he was more aggressive and landed the more telling blows.

With the fight in the balance, Burke came out in the third with all guns blazing.  Capitalized with and impressive showing of ground and pound he definitely won the third.

Judges score cards read: 29-28 x2 Burke, 29-28 Arzeno.  Burke now improves to 5-1 and is already slated to make a return to the CFA.

The Big Rock Out: Big Success!!

The Big Rock Out: Big Success!!

Delgado & Hendrix Triumph in WBF North American Title Bouts

Friday, December 2, 2011 – GA World Congress Center’s Thomas Murphy Ballroom, Atlanta, GA

ATLANTA, GA.  The Georgia Boxing Championship’s Big Rock Out was held on Friday, December 2011, at the Georgia World Congress Center’s Thomas Murphy Ballroom in Atlanta, GA.  Sports Fan Properties, Shea Bailey Promotions & Delgado Boxing, promoted The Big Rock Out.

RESULTS:            Paul Delgado (26-11-2)     Defeated               Ruben Galvan (27-20-4)    Unanimous Decision          (10)

WBF North American Welterweight Title

Tyrese Hendrix (21-3-1)     Defeated               Chris Gray (13-17-1)           Majority Decision                                 (10)

WBF North American Light Welterweight Title

Jared Robinson (7-0)          Defeated               John Trigg (19-37-5)           Unanimous Decision          (6)

Rommel Rene (13-0)          Defeated               Harvey Jolly (12-18-1)        Unanimous Decision          (6)

D’Quan Morgan (1-0-1)      vs                            Tracey Johnson (0-0-2)      Majority Draw                       (4)

Jesus Tavera (3-1)              Defeated               Henra Chennault (0-2-1)   Majority Decision                                 (4)

Clinton Hester (2-3-1)         Defeated               Tobias Rice (3-5)                 Unanimous Decision          (4)

Larry Depeyster (1-0)         vs                            Clarence Joseph (0-0)       No Contest                            (2)

Paul “The Truth” Delgado went the distance with Ruben “The Modern Day Warrior” Galvan to win the vacant WBF North American Welterweight Title on Friday night winning 100-89, 100-90 & 100-90.  Galvan proved he could take a punch and played to the crowd as he showcased his iron chin.  The Indiana native started out each round by spitting water into the air and it was no doubt that he had all the confidence in the world. However, Delgado professionalism and patience helped him pile up the points round after round.  Delgado could not put away the pesky Galvan in what proved to be the most entertaining bout of the evening.

Tyrese “Head Honcho” Hendrix put in a workman’s like effort as he started off the 10 round bout showcasing his patented speed and athleticism.  It took Vero Beach’s Chris Gray a few rounds to figure the southpaws patterns and proceeded to pick up a few late rounds to make things closer than many had expected.  Hendirx’s stamina was challenged late in the fight, fighting only one week from having flu-like symptoms. Hendrix was able to overcome this uncharacteristic fatigue, as well as Gray’s counter-punching techniques to win the Vacant WBF North American Light Welterweight Title with a majority decision 98-92, 97-93 & 95-95.

Some technical issues with the ring during the first bout caused the Depeyster vs Joseph fight to be declared a no-contest by the Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission. The ring problems were corrected and the bouts resumed with each going the distance.

“We had a great crowd for our season ending event”, said co-promoter Greg Barckhoff. “A lot of effort went into putting this show and this card together and it was great to see the reaction of the fans to each of the fights.”  Co-promoter Shea Bailey said, “Georgia boxing took a big step in the right direction on Friday night. Our goal is to provide a platform for Georgia boxer to compete and help us grow the sport from within the state. We proved tonight that we have some very talented fighter here in Georgia and the best is yet to come.”

Next GBC Event:                Friday, February 3, 2012 (The Buckhead Theatre)
