In a fight taking place on Saturday night in Columbus OH, Brian Bowles from Athens GA lost his bantamweight WEC belt to the slick and elusive Dominick Cruz.

Just as all insiders anticipated the fight was a typical strength versus speed match-up. Cruz spent the first two rounds primarily on his feet dancing and potshot-hing Bowles. Bowles had little answer as Cruz simply picked him apart with a crisp jab, overhand rights, and low leg kicks.
At the end of the second round Bowles was wincing and pointing toward his hand. The same hand he broke when he defeated Miguel Torres for the title in ’09. After the ringside doctor examined Bowles it was determined that he could no longer continue, determining that his right hand was broken.
