Lutador Grappling Huge Success!!

By: Ulli Pohl

Lutador Grappling on a “roll” with their 3rd successful event!

On Saturday, August 1st the guys from Lutador grappling held their third successful event at the Cobb Galleria Expo Center.  The organization was started by a few top local competitors who recognized the need for a well run, high level tournament in the Southeast. Thus, the Lutador Grappling Series was created.  In less than 3 years, Phillipe Gentry and his team have delivered on all three of their events.

The event may arguably go down as one of the most action packed fun filled days we’ve experienced at Gerogiafighters.com this year.  The event included a world class venue, top level grappling tournament, CrossFit Challenge, Judo tournament and a seminar conducted by the current 4 time black belt world Jiu-Jitsu champ Rubens “Cobrita” Charles.

The tournament attracted a large amount of top level competitors like Mundial Champion Chris Moriarty, Pan Am Champion Ian Mcpherson ,WEC Pro fighter Raphael Assuncao and some of the top level local Georgia MMA fighters, Aaron TEX Johnson and Dave Vitkay to name a few.

Many of the top local gyms were well represented as well as competitors from surrounding states.

As a result,  Team Alliance ended up winning the team trophy ,with Chris Moriarty taking home the individual open absolute advanced title.

All in all, Lutador truly exceeded all expectations with this event which was appreciated by all of the grapplers, CrossFit competitors, fans, and vendors who were present.  GeorgiaFighters.com looks forward to being present at their next event being held in October.
